How to look after your tattoo step by step

Once tattoo is done I will cover your tattoo with cling film which I recommend to keep covered for 3-5 hours. If needed cover can stay on for longer but needs to be taken off by the and of the day. Before you take off cling film please don't forget to wash your hands well. After taking of cling film wash your tattoo thoroughly (but carefully) using warm water and a fragrance-free soap to remove any excess/dried blood and plasma. To dry your tattoo after washing it use clean paper towel and dry it by gently patting down he area. DON'T RUB. After cleaning your tattoo apply a small amount of cream. Ensure the area is COMPLETELY dry before applying a very thin layer of your chosen aftercare cream to help moisturise and nourish the area. For aftercare I always recommend to use natural oil cream like cocoa butter. You can purchase aftercare cream in the studio or you can get it from any retail shop just make sure it's all natural without perfume or additives.
You will need to wash your tattoo regularly. Continue to use a fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water to clean your tattoo at least once a day but to guarantee perfect healing wash it twice a day, morning and evening. Apply the cream 3-5 times a day. It's very important that you DO NOT over moisturise your tattoo. As mentioned above apply only a thin layer of cream when you feel tattoo is getting dry. IF skin feel nice and moist you don't need to apply more cream. Avoid getting your tattoo too dry or overly moisturised as applying too much of the cream can irritate skin and affect healing.
Repeat the cleaning and moisturising process until the tattoo is fully healed. Remember that your tattoo isn't completely safe from germs and bacteria until it has COMPLETELY finished scabbing and peeling. Continue to wash the tattoo until this point (usually 1-2 weeks).

What not to do while your tattoo is healing:

-
Don't pick and pull at the flaking/scabbing skin. Picking away at your healing tattoo can delay healing, cause fading, and increase the chances of infection.
-
Stay away from the sun. Don't expose your new tattoo to intense sunlight and don't apply any sun lotion to the area until it has fully healed.
-
Stay away from water. All bodies of water can contain nasty bacteria that can ruin a new tattoo if you're not careful. Stick to short showers until your skin has fully healed, and don't go swimming.
To keep your tattoo healthy looking the best it can means that you will have to look after your skin. Use sunscreen to protect your skin and tattoo from UV rays and don't forget to moisturise your skin regukary.
